Friends Expenditure

The aim of our fundraising is to purchase equipment, for the children, that is generally not in the remit of the school’s expenditure budget.

In the past, this has included: benches, wooden gazebo, laptops and trolley, adventure trail, astro turf, funding towards the new kitchen, hand bells and staging as well as specific items for the classroom when they have been requested. Decisions on what to purchase is a frequent agenda item at our monthly meetings. Following our last meeting, we have shortlisted 4 ideas that we feel are of benefit to children across all ages.

However, before a firm decision is made, we would really appreciate the input from you and your child/ren.

Option 1:

A second laptop trolley including 16 laptop computers. Mrs Watts has stated that the computer trolleys are in great demand and a new one would be greatly welcomed.

Approx cost £10,000

Option 2:

A second astro turf for the back field. During the winter, children are not allowed onto the field and must stay on the astro turf. As you can imagine, this is a tight squeeze to accommodate all children. It was discussed that children (and parents) don’t want to stay in all day and would like to be outside during play times.

Approx cost £10,000 - for half the size of the current astro turf / High 5s court (approx 7m x 13m).

Option 3:

Multi purpose games area.

This would be located at the bottom end of the field (near to the tyres). It would be an enclosed court with markings for several games.
Approx cost £22,000 (groundworks to completion)

Option 4:

FizzBook Spin

This is a tablet touch screen computer. The Fizzbook Spin offers students 2 modes of use, either as a conventional laptop with a keyboard and mouse pad or in tablet mode as an innovative touch screen operating interface. When used as a laptop the screen can swivel through 180° for easy viewing by the teacher and peers. Software includes Microsoft Works, Art Rage, the SMART Classroom Suite (educational tools) and a webcam.

Cost £6,500 for 16 including a trolley
