Committee Meeting 20th October 2010

Minutes / matters arising from last meeting:

Expenditure:

It was agreed that we would issue parents with an option of what the fundraising should be spent on, ideas as follows:

• FizzBook Spin (tablet touch screen computer) £6.5k for 16 including trolley
• Laptops and trolley £10k for 16
• Multipurpose sports court £20 - £23k
• 2nd Astro turf area between £5k and £12k depending on the area covered

JGN and JA to produce an A5 flyer and issue to parents either via book bags or class reps the 1st week after half term. CMcK and JGN to see Mary Watts

It was also agreed that the money would not go towards the cost of a new class room

Events for the academic year 2010-2011:

Cake Stall– Raised £128

Christmas Craft Fayre – Saturday 11th December 2010
Claire Barratt co-ordinating but will require help before the event.All in hand, CB and SC happy to sort out and will ask for help nearer to the time. Father Christmas is booked.

Christmas Carol Concert – Thursday 16th December 2010
After the School Christmas Carol Concert mulled wine and mince pies are provided by the Friends for staff, parents and children in the school hall.

Burns Night – Saturday 22nd January 2011
Jenny and Mark Gordon co-ordinating.Venue to be confirmed.

Kids School Disco – Friday 11th February 2011
Usual format, disco, tuck shop and glo-sticks.

Adults D.I.S.C.O – Saturday 19th March 2011
Great fundraiser last year, fancy dress once again the theme is D.I.S.C.O!

Pamper Evening – Friday 1st April 2011
Jo Gregory-Newman and Kristy Bailey to co-ordinate.

Appleton Grand Prix – Saturday 14th May 2011
Peter Wardell-Yerburgh and Carl McKno to co-ordinate. Details to follow. JGN to check with Mary Watts. CMcK to check availability of Sportsfield and closure of the Netherton Road.

Music and Camping Festival – Saturday 11th June 2011
Jess Adams to co-ordinate. Location to be discussed.

Summer Fete – Sunday 26th June 2011
Elaine McKno to co-ordinate.
A committee needs to be formed ASAP, anyone wishing to join the 2011 Summer Fete committee please contact your Class Rep or Elaine. It was agreed that class reps would find 1 person from each class to join the committee and notify Elaine by email asap.

Bring and Buy Book Sale
To be co-ordinated by Nicola Warrick and Sonia Tyak.Children donate books they no longer read and buy a different book for 50p all proceeds will go to Project India. This will run on the 26th November in school time between 1 – 3pm any book left over will be sold after school on that day. To be advertised in the newsletter this week and posters put up. Dates for when books can be dropped off will be confirmed and parents will be notified. Parent helpers will be required to sort books prior to the sale, help children to choose a suitable book and help to sell and clear away after the sale. If this event proves to be successful NW is prepared to run it each term.

AOB:

Boneshaker style event

(5km run, 10km cycle, 5km run). Event name and date to be agreed at the 24th November meeting. Mary Watts requested £100 to buy 2 digital cameras, this was agreed. NWY requested £40 to buy sweets for the Pantomime trip, this was agreed. Chris Cairns requested that the agenda was sent out to everyone prior to the meetings. CMcK agreed to do this. CMcK will also continue to put a link on the school newsletter and post the minutes on the Friends website each month. Natalie Crawford suggested doing a joint fundraiser for the Friends and Appleton Playground. This was agreed and the Grand Prix was suggested as the most suitable event. The split of the profits is still to be discussed.

Date of the next Friends meeting Wednesday 24th November – The Plough at 8.15pm
