About Us

When your child begins their education at Appleton C of E Primary School, you will automatically become a member of the Friends of appleton school. Every year at our AGM a committe is voted in as the friends representatives to the school.

Role Descriptions

Chairperson 
Call and lead meetings, set agenda, take apologiesApprove minutesWelcome and involve other parents into the FriendsWrite the annual report (to be reported in the AGM)Sign cheques with one other committee memberLead or support set up of teams to plan specific events or activities

Treasurer 
Maintain the financial records and manage all banking including reconciliationsPrepare and pass cheques for signature, as requiredReport income & expenditure at meetingsCount and bank cash and bank all cheques inArrange licenses for social eventsDraw up annual accountsPrepare floats and arrange delivery and collection of floats to all events

Secretary
Take attendance and minutes from meetingsSecure Chair approval of minutes and distribute within two weeks of any meeting by email to all attendees and class repsArrange for publication on website

Bar stock 
Purchase all drinks, snacks to be sold through the bar for social eventsStore all stock in between eventsArrange for stock to be delivered and collected for each eventKeep stock records

Class Representative
Responsible for collecting all parents’ email addresses for correspondence.Responsible for keeping their class parents informed of all activities taking place at school and with the Friends via email. For example; Friends’ meeting dates, inset days, Maypole dancing, school trips etc...Responsible for helping to find a small number of volunteers to help run stalls at the Christmas Craft Fayre and the Summer Fete.Once a year, the KS1 Reps and KS2 Reps will be asked to co-ordinate a few small scale events for example, cake stalls, bingo afternoon, children’s disco film nights/afternoons or any other ideas.The Class Rep is the link between the class parents and the Friends committee. All parents/carers are invited to attend the Friends meetings but Class Reps are asked to be there to represent their class groups, bringing any ideas, suggestions, complaints etc to the committee.
